Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has ordered the reinstatement of the 33 residents doctors sacked by the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.

This was disclosed by Dr Amina Japhet Onyewuchi, the President of the Association of Resident Doctors, Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.

Dr Onyewuchi also revealed that a planned strike action by the association has been put aside to enable them to toe the line of peace after several meetings with the government.

“Thank God, the governor has ordered the hospital management to withdraw the letters of expiration/termination of Residency Training issued to 33 of our members.

“Since Samuel Ortom came into office, there has never been any challenge confronting us that has not been solved by the governor starting from the implementation of our teaching allowances in 2017 to payment of our skipping arrears in 2019,” she said.
