Coronavirus: NIMC shut centres nationwide

The National Identity Commission has suspended all activities regarding registration of Nigerians across its centres nationwide.

In a notice by the national agency to the general public, it suspended the enrollment and card collection services in all its centres.

Explaining the reason why it towed that line, it said it was a pre-emptive measure to ensure the safety of staff and the public.

"In light of the COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) will as from the 24th of March, 2020 suspend enrollment, card collection and other services in all its centres Nationwide. This is a pre-emptive measure to ensure the safety of Staff and the Public," the statement read.
