An aide to the president, Lauretta Onochie has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, met the requirements set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that's why the party didn't get deregistered.
INEC yesterday deregistered 74 political parties for failing to win any political seat in the 2019 general elections.
A social media user who reacted to the development stated that the PDP should have been included in the list of deregistered parties for the harm it did to Nigeria.
Eddy tweeted: "In my own opinion, a political party like PDP that has done harm to Nigeria than Boko Haram they gave birth to should be should have been delisted. They are the problem of Nigeria".
Lauretta Onochie, who reacted to his tweet, revealed that the PDP met INEC's requirements which is why they got retained.
She tweeted: "Many Nigerians would agree with you. But there are laws guiding which political parties should be retained and which should be proscribed.@OfficialPDPNig met the requirements for retention. Proscribing PDP would be breaking the law and its unacceptable under @MBuhari's watch".
