A 15-year old girl, Kayla Kenney, has been suspended by a Christian School after she posed for picture with a birthday cake with a rainbow design.

Kayla Kenney also appeared in the picture rocking a sweater which has a rainbow design on it during her birthday on December, 19, 2019.

MyNigeria gathered that rainbow symbol is often used to depict solidarity with the LGBTQ community.

According to her mother, Kimberly Afford, the design of rainbow on her daughter's cake and sweater were just a coincidence.

The school, Whitefield Academy in Louisville Kentucky, sent the picture showing Kayla posing with her cake to her mother to inform her that her daughter's enrolment in the school has been terminated.

The head of the school, Bruce Jacobson, wrote:

“The WA Administration has been made aware of a recent picture, posted on social media, which demonstrates a posture of morality and cultural acceptance contrary to that of Whitefield Academy’s beliefs.

“We made it clear that any further promotion, celebration or any other action and attitudes counter to Whitefield’s philosophy will not be tolerated.” Reacting to the expulsion, Kimberly said:

“Rainbows don’t mean you’re a certain gender or certain s3x or s3xuality." Kimberly also said that she wants her daughter to be who she is, adding that Kayla is very individual.

“I just want her to be true to who she is. She is very individual.” she said.
