The statue of Nigerian musical legend and Grammary nominee, Fela Anikulapo Kuti will be relocated to the roundabout between Allen Avenue and Opebi-Toyin Street, Lagos State Government has promised.
This was made public by the State's Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde.

Explaining reasons for the demolition of the statue of the famed musician, the commission said that it was highly imperative to carry out junction improvements in some identified locations.
"This necessitated the removal of street furniture, statues of very notable personalities, artworks, and billboards," he said.

Oladeinde made it very clear that the Government duly informed and consulted the Fela Anikulapo-Kuti family before the action was taken, noting that the whole process is for the benefit of Lagos residents.
He also said that Lagos holds its nation's heroes in very high esteem and would not do anything to bring down the exalted heights they have attained during their lifetime directly or indirectly.

The commissioner added that the Government was working on selecting the perfect location to site the old Obafemi Awolowo statue.
