FG gives new directive for sporting rights in nigeria

The Federal Government has prohibited sport broadcasters from televising solely exclusive contents to the general public.

This was contained in a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Nigeria.

The Ministry instructed sports casters and exclusive licensees to start sharing their rights with other broadcasters.

According to the statement, it would help to boost reach and maximise utilisation by all broadcasters of premium content.

"The Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Nigeria issues new regulations prohibiting exclusivity of sporting rights in Nigeria. Broadcasters and exclusive licensees now mandated to share such rights with other broadcasters to boost reach and also maximise utilisation by all broadcasters of premium content," the tweet said.
