Army commander ambushed by Boko Haram Insurgents

Boko Haram insurgents yesterday ambushed the Theatre Commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole, Major Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi.

The insurgent staged the attack around 7:20pm while Adeniyi was returing to Maiduguri after meeting with troops recently deployed to Jakana, to strengthen the security in the general area.

“As we were coming back to Maiduguri after we left Jakana, we suddenly started hearing gunshots all over,” a source said.

“Before we realized it, they had bombarded us with heavy fire from different angles. Fortunately for us, we were able to repel the attack and escape."

MyNigeria gathered that no harm came to the theatre commander. Even though his vehicle was badly damaged with many gun holes.
