Trump: Never threaten the Iranian nation - Hassan Rouhani

Trump - Rouhani Trump - Rouhani

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, has given reasons why his country should never be threatened.

He stated this after US President, Donald Trump warned that if Iran attacks an American base or citizen, they would retaliate with some of the military equipment they acquired with trillions of dollars.

Trump disclosed this in the heat of rhetorics following a US airstrike which killed General Qassim Soleimani of Iran.

Trump tweeted: "The United States just spent Two Trillion Dollars on Military Equipment. We are the biggest and by far the BEST in the World! If Iran attacks an American Base, or any American, we will be sending some of that brand new beautiful equipment their way...and without hesitation!"

He also revealed that the strategy the US will deploy in the face of an Iranian attack will avenge the 52 American hostages taken by Iran years ago.

"We have ... targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture" and "if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets... Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD", he wrote.

In response to Trump, Rouhani made a reference to Iran Air Flight 655, a passenger aircraft carrying 290 people which was shot down in 1988 by the US leading to the death everyone on board.

He tweeted: "Those who refer to the number 52 should also remember the number 290. #IR655 Never threaten the Iranian nation".
