Pope Francis speaks on war threats between Iran and US

Pope Francis has reacted to the war rhetorics between Iran and the US, warning against war.

Since the death of Iran's General Qassim Soleimani by US airstrike, both Nations have been threatening to go to war against each other.

Iran has promised to retaliate by attacking 32 US sites, while the US responded by making it clear that any attack on America or its citizen will see the destruction of 52 Iran sites.

Reacting to the rhetorics, Pope Francis, who spoke at a Sunday Angelus prayer at the Vatican, warned against war and advised dialogue.

“I call on all sides to keep the flame of dialogue and self-restraint alight and ward off the shadow of hostility,” he said.

“War only brings death and destruction.”
