Three people have been killed in a lone accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon at Badaromo village along Bauchi-Maiduguri federal highway in Bauchi State.

The Federal Road Safety Corp confirmed the accident which occurred 25 kilometers away from Bauchi, the Bauchi state capital.

This is coming barely four days after 28 people including 24 family members were burnt beyond recognition in a fatal crash that occurred at Gubi Gari, along Bauchi-Ningi road.

The accident happened when the driver of a Hummer Bus carrying 24 family members who were going to Yola, Adamawa State for a wedding and was allegedly sleeping suddenly woke up and lost control and had a head-on collision with a J5 with four passengers and 20 cows.

Immediately, the two vehicles caught fire and all the 28 passengers in the two vehicles except the driver of the Hummer Bus were burnt to ashes.

The Public Relations Officer, FRSC, Bauchi Sector Command, Rilwan Suleiman, in a message sent to our Correspondent on Sunday evening said that five other people sustained varying degrees of injuries.

He said that the lone accident was caused by speed violation and tyre burst adding that there were eight people, four males, three females, and a girl child, in the car including the driver.

Suleiman said: "There was an accident that occurred on Sunday, 15th December 2019 at about 2.00 pm. It happened at Badaromo village, along Bauchi-Maiduguri road, 25 km away from Bauchi metropolis.

"The driver was over speeding and suddenly, he had a tyre burst, so he lost control and hit a milestone by the roadside and as a result, the vehicle somersaulted.

"The accident involved a private Toyota Sienna Bus with number plate: BF 716-KWL. There were eight people, 4 males, 3 females, and a female child, in the car when the crash occurred.

"Immediately we were called and we arrived at the scene, we rushed them to the Bauchi state Specialist Hospital where three females were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

"The other five people, four males, and one female child sustained various degrees of injuries and are receiving medical attention.

The FRSC spokesman who called for attitudinal change among drivers warned them against indulging in dangerous driving.

"We will not fail to appeal to motorists to obey simple road traffic regulations whenever they are on the road. They must be very careful especially at this festive period where there is a high volume of vehicles on the road.

"We still insist that motorists must change their attitude towards driving and use of the road.

"They must avoid selfishness, impatience, and recklessness on the road because most accidents are caused by them and as a result, lives, and properties are lost," he warned.
