Gov. Mohammed builds 5,000 capacity multipurpose hall at Bauchi NYSC orientation camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has deployed 1,627 Corp Members to Bauchi State for the 2019 Batch C, Stream 1 course for the one-year mandatory exercise.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the corps members for the three weeks Orientation Exercise at the Wailo Camp on Thursday, the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed said the state government will strengthen the capacity of the scheme in order to deliver on its mandate of fostering national cohesion and integration.

In furtherance to this, the Governor announced the award of a contract for the construction of a 5000 capacity Multipurpose hall, Administrative block and the provision of additional Infrastructures at the NYSC Camp.

The Governor, who was represented by the Head of Civil Service, Ahmed Ma'aji, said his administration is resolute to create Post-Service opportunities to ensure the effective participation of youths in the socioeconomic and political advancement of the state.

He enjoined the Corps members to key into the scheme's Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme to enable them to become self-reliant.

Mohammed who assured the Corp Members of their safety, security, and welfare, tasked the Corps members to render selfless service to their host communities.

The Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in the state, Alhaji Adamu Soro, stated that the state government's efforts to renovate and upgrade facilities in the Camp is to ensure a conducive atmosphere for training and other engagements.

Soro who is also the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state observed that the NYSC scheme since inception has proven to be a major unifying factor amongst the youth from different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.

The State NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Shehu Bashir had earlier explained that the orientation course is the bedrock of the NYSC programmes designed to equip them adequately to handle the challenges of the service year.
