A cross section of Nigerians has reacted to the Presidential Election Tribunal judgment that dismissed the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate Atiku Abubakar, challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election.
DAILY POST reported earlier that the Justice Mohammed Garba-led Tribunal dismissed Atiku and PDP petition in its entirety.
President Buhari’s victory in the 2019 presidential election was upheld by tribunal after it dismissed the petition filed by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The court ruled that Buhari was duly elected as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the presidential election held on 23rd February, 2019.
The tribunal ruled that electronic transfer of results, which was the crux of the opposition’s petition did not take place at any level.
The court also held that President Buhari was not only qualified but eminently qualified to stand for election based on his educational records.
The judgement by the court has since stirred reactions from Nigerians on social media.
Some Nigerians queried the judgement, stating that President Buhari was not only qualified but eminently qualified to stand for election based on his educational records.
Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:
@Dmightyangel ”Throughout this Presidential Tribunal judgement today, technicality was never used at any point in time, all they used to disqualify PDP’s petitions were provided by PDP. Nonsense party.
“The funniest aspect of this presidential Tribunal judgement today:98% of previous cases sited to defend Buhari and to debunk PDP’s petitions were actually the cases won by PDP in the past when they were in power.”
@mayorspeaks “The Justice Garba of the Presidential Tribunal has done a much better job defending Buhari than all the SANs he hired, it is obvious that the judge is part of the defense council! What a disgraceful thing to see, Atiku should know what’s up by now.”
@Wideyeq “Whichever way the presidential election Tribunal goes, let us not forget that INEC “organized” one of the least credible and chaotic elections in Nigeria’s democratic history.”
@Akintondestephen “Whether Atiku or Buhari, the truth is I don’t believe in justice from Nigerian courts. This generation and the next is lost. Don’t come and argue with me. To all Nigerian graduates, your certificates are irrelevant Just join politics. That’s it.”
@Bolu_oj “If PMB and the APC focus on Nigeria’s development, the way they did everything to defend this PMB’s WAEC and presidential Tribunal, then Nigeria will see growth across board. But from here, its celebration time and contracts will flow, appointments will flow and 2023 will come.”
@PDP_2019 “If Buhari can do it, all Agberos on the street can also do it! They should all go and swear affidavit at any court that they are Ph.D holders. It’s just N500. If they question them, they should cite the case of Atiku V Buhari.”
@DaminaboEric “As it stands, Atiku is not only defeated he is “EMINENTLY” defeated! Just as Buhari is eminently qualified academically!
@Omoissy “Presidential Tribunal judgement further confirms that “School na scam”.”
@Okenwaokodu “The Nigerian dream is dead on arrival. What were you guys expecting? We can only pray that those supporting this shameful act will one day have a taste of this bitter kola.”
@Kameel_ “In other words the Presidential Tribunal judgement stylishly confirmed to us our President is
“certificateless”.“
@Nnaezema “We will never forget that you don’t need a certificate to become Nigeria’s President .”
