Antoine Griezmann will be stuck with the No.17 shirt at Barcelona for the rest of the season despite Philippe Coutinho’s loan move to Bayern Munich, the Daily Mail reports.
Griezmann made his debut for Barca on Friday in a 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao.
La Liga rules state that a player must wear the same number in every official game for an entire season.
However, Coutinho’s move did not go through until Monday, which did not give Griezmann the option of taking his preferred No.7 shirt.
Bayern have taken Coutinho on loan for the full season for just £8million plus wages and the deal includes an option for a permanent move at any time if they pay €120m (£110m).
Griezmann may be hoping they take that option, freeing the No.7 shirt up for next season.
