Zoning 2027 ticket to the South is a calculated move to lure Obi, Jonathan, Amaechi – PDP told

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) believes the decision by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its presidential ticket to the south is a calculated move to lure defectees back to the party.

This was disclosed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, in an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, August 26, indicating that the strategic move was meant to lure prominent figures like Peter Obi, Goodluck Jonathan, and Rotimi Amaechi into its fold.

He accused the largest opposition party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of prioritising political manoeuvres over addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

According to him, their early zoning arrangements showed insensitivity to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians, especially as the election is still two years away.

“Why are we so preoccupied and behaving in such a way that Nigerians begin to look at the political elite across the divides as if we don’t care about them?” Abdullahi asked.

Recall that the PDP, after its national executive meeting, disclosed that the leadership of the party had agreed that zone its 2027 presidential ticket would be zoned to the South.

In the same vein, APC governors and leaders have endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their sole candidate for the next election, citing the country’s informal power rotation between North and South.
