The Ogun State Police Command has adopted comprehensive security measures before, during, and after the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.
The Command reminded members of the public that the ban on the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts, and bangers remains in force.
"The loud sounds produced by these items can easily be mistaken for gunshots or explosions, often causing fear, panic and unnecessary tension among residents," the Command said in a statement.
To maintain peace and public safety, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and all tactical units have been directed to intensify patrols and increase police visibility in residential areas, markets, motor parks, places of worship, hospitals and along major highways.
Parents and guardians are advised to caution their children and wards against using fireworks, as anyone whose actions cause public disturbance, injury, or property damage will be apprehended and prosecuted under the law.
The Commissioner of Police urged residents to celebrate peacefully, obey the law and cooperate fully with the Police and other security agencies. He assured the public of adequate security throughout the festive period and beyond.
