The deployment is contained in a release signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Solomon Eremi, on behalf of the State NSCDC Commandant, Mr Samuel Fadeyi-Adekunle, on Friday in Calabar.

According to the release, “In order to beef up security during and after the festive period, the Cross River Command of NSCDC in Calabar has deployed 1,000 personnel across the state to ensure maximum security coverage throughout the festive period.

“The State Commandant wishes to congratulate all Christians in Cross River and Nigeria at large on the birth of Jesus Christ which is a period of celebration and dedication to God.

“The Commandant used the opportunity to call on all Christian faithful to be law-abiding and go about the celebration of Christmas in peace and harmony and maintaining cordial relationship with their neighbours for a better Cross River and Nigeria at large.”
