Your future is bright but Sanwo-Olu will win – Oba of Lagos tells Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has declared his support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election set to hold on Saturday, February 18.

On Thursday, March 16, the Oba said this when Labour Party governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.

He urged GRV as he is commonly known not to relent after the election but he is fully backing Sanwo-Olu.

Oba also hailed Rhodes-Vivour for contesting the polls as he wished him well saying, his future is bright.

“Please, don’t relent after this contest but I am fully behind Sanwo-Olu,” he told Rhodes-Vivour.

“I am not an hero worshipper and gossiper. For Gbadebo, the future is open to you. God will not kill you; there is nothing wrong in you contesting. All of those contesting are my children.

“I pray by the authority in this palace, God should help us to turn the state better. There is no way I can hate the Igbo because they are among my best friends.”

The Oba assured that there would be no violence during the election. He urged all residents to come out and vote.

“By the grace of God, there would be no trouble. All the false prophets, I am just looking at them. Everything is in the hands of God and within six months of Tinubu, there would be glaring progress.”
