'You're a bad boy' - Nigerians react to claims suspended EFCC boss spent $300k on hotel accommodation for 10 days

The suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, AbdulRasheed Bawa, has been accused of spending $300,000 on hotel accommodation for 10 days.

In a viral video Bawa was said to have traveled for a lesser hajj known as Umrah with his wife, children, parents, and other family members about a month ago.

It was revealed that Bawa stayed at the Sheraton hotel which cost about $15k for 10 days per room and the former chairman paid for 6 rooms.

A total of $300,000 approximately N223 million was paid for hotel accommodations for the 10 days.

This allegations comes after President Bola Tinubu suspended Bawa to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.

The Director, Information, SGF Office, Willie Basse, said in a statement;

“This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.

“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.”

Reacting to the accusation, some Nigerians took to social media to share their thoughts;

arc.tc: Its unfortunate that nigerians are this forgettable ...very serious case of amnesia is worrying most of us nigerians....the same script that buhari government played at their inception is what the present administration is playing and we have mostly fallen for it all over again . afam_themovieplug: It's not today people in high positions in government have been arrested and questioned. But how many of them have been convicted and are in jail? How many? Let's not be fooled by all these theatrics... If Tinubu is different then he must make sure all these people end up in jail for years. Only then will I applaud him.
