The National Assembly has officially turned down Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s plea to return to her legislative duties after her six-month suspension over alleged misconduct.

In a formal letter signed by Acting Clerk Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, it was reaffirmed that the suspension for the Kogi Central senator remains active. This decision stands pending the resolution of her case currently before the Court of Appeal.

The letter also acknowledged her notice of intention to resume duties on September 4, which she claims marks the end of her suspension period. Nevertheless, the National Assembly clarified that her suspension, initiated on March 6, 2025, is still in effect and cannot be lifted until the legal matter is resolved in court.

It was emphasised that no administrative action related to her suspension can be undertaken until the Court of Appeal delivers its final verdict. The Senate is set to review her suspension after the court’s ruling, and she will be promptly informed of any decision once the case is concluded.
