The Chief Justice of Yobe State, Garba Nabaruma, has passed on at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan, born in Yobe, confirmed the death via his media aide, Ola Awoniyi on Tuesday.

According to reports, the late chief justice died after treating an undisclosed ailment.

“Nabaruma was an erudite judge and leader, who worked assiduously to reform the judiciary in the state,” Lawan said in a statement.

“Justice Nabaruma left behind an indelible mark, not only on the state judiciary but also on the legal profession in general.”

The senate president “prayed to Allah to forgive the departed for his sins and grant him Aljanat firdaus”.

Lata Nabaruma was sworn into office in 2011 by the immediate past governor of Yobe, Ibrahim Gaidam, and was active until death.
