The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Nigerian referee Yemisi Eunice Akintoye among the 18 officials for the 2024 African Women’s Cup of Nations tournament.

Akintoye, who became a FIFA referee in 2020, is a member of the Lagos State Football Referees Council.

The 30-year-old excelled at the preparatory course held in Cairo, Egypt, last week.

As part of the program, she underwent extensive technical assessments, physical fitness tests, and decision-making evaluations under match-like conditions.

Among the high-profile tournaments Akintoye has officiated are the CAF Women’s Champions League, WAFU B U-20 Championship, and WAFU B Women’s Champions League.

The 2024 WAFCON will be hosted by Morocco from Saturday, 5 July, to Saturday, 26 July 2025.

The Banyana Banyana of South Africa are the current defending champions of the competition after beating Morocco to win the last edition.
