The Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi central Mrs. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan has alleged that the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has a hitman in his pay structure that carries out "dirty" jobs.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, whose candidature was affirmed by the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Thursday, November 3 said the man identified as Lieutenant Charles Akalieze is the Head of Task Force Nigerian Navy in Kogi.

Speaking in a wide range of issues on News Central TV on Monday, November 7, she said that "over 20 killed have been by this man. Extrajudicial killings. If I had known I will be doing this interview in the morning, I would have brought their pictures."

Her comments come off the back of reports by SaharaReporters that Safiu, the step brother of Abdulkarim Asuku, the Chief of Staff to Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello, in Kogi State has been allegedly abducted by gunmen working for the governor.

According to the SaharaReporters, Safiu was abducted on Monday, October 24 by the governor’s hit-men led by a Nigerian Navy officer identified only as Charles.

The victim was said to have recently dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress and joined the Peoples Democratic Party.

“The boy’s name is Safiu, he is actually a step brother to the Chief of Staff. He was with APC and switched to PDP. Reason he was kidnapped. They fear he knows much about their atrocities. He was working as political thug to Yahaya Bello before he left APC; he was involved in many attacks on political opponents in Kogi State. So, they felt losing him to PDP would be disastrous,” a source said.
