Nigerians are voicing their displeasure after singer Burna Boy offered to assist victims of a mass shooting that destroyed a two-year-old's birthday party in Stockton, California.

Reports indicate that the singer said he's stepping up to cover the costs for all four of the deceased victims.

The Afrobeats star stated that he learned about the incident from "The Breakfast Club" and immediately reached out to Wack 100, who, in turn, connected him with Hollywood Unlocked's Jason Lee, who also serves as vice mayor of his hometown of Stockton, TMZ reported.

In a statement, he said, "When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke. No family should ever face this kind of pain alone. I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the long process of healing."

The news did not sit well with many Nigerians, who questioned why Burna Boy offered to help victims of a mass shooting when terrorism is ravaging his own country.

An X user, @Wisechoice0101, said, "And a lot and worse is happening back home 🇳🇬 and They never feel emotionally spiked."

@vickAlmondo said, "Terrorists collected a few lives in Kebbi, but because them nor dey say 'gonna wanna'. He ain't stepping up. Uncle, we know what you're doing."

@iamxx0x0 said, "What is he even doing... how does that concern him. There is stuff going on in Nigeria, he didn't say to that."

@YouCanCallMeOma said, "Meanwhile, thousands of his countrymen are getting kidn@pped and un@lived on daily basis and he’s yet to say a word. He wants to appeal to outsiders, that’s his choice but it’s just sad."

Burna Boy's gesture has been labelled by some quarters as damage control, after some of his shows in the US were cancelled because of his treatment of a lady at one of his recent concerts.
