Women’s 100 meters hurdle world record holder, Tobi Amusan has charged the government to give thought to and embrace the business side of sports.

In a chat with Brila.net, Amusan insists that the government can improve grassroots sports development and with gains that will benefit the country.

“Sports is not just about doing the leisure part of it; it’s more business, but that’s something I don’t think the government has explored, because if we have a good educational system we will be able to generate more funds and people will come to the country and we can balance it out by using the students Athletes approach just like they do in the United States.”

“Another thing they can do is to organize a competition and make it a tourist attraction centre for International athletes. If we focus more on developing our infrastructures to make it business worthy it’ll go far.”

Tobi Amusan also tagged all her achievements so far as Spectacular and claims that she took inspiration from the previous world record holder Kendra Harrison.

The Champion Athlete revealed that, when she first met Harrison, she was so star-struck.

She took motivation from the fact that everybody knows Harrison, but didn’t know her and it prompted her to make a tweet of intent on November 8th, 2016.

Her tweet read: “Unknown now, but I will be unforgettable I will persist Until I succeed.”

She also reserved praises for her coach Lacena Golding-Clarke, who was a hurdles athlete from Jamaica, and said that her path to world success would have been longer or impossible without her coach’s advice and training methods.
