Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has asked Peter Obi, to withdraw his comment that says the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) are not terrorists.

IPOB is a separatist group that is leading an agitation for an independent state of Biafra which it wants carved out from the South-east and some parts of the South-south Nigeria.

Recall that in October 2017, Peter Obi said in an interview with Channels Sunday Politics that IPOB members are not terrorists.

He said; “The only thing I disagree with is naming IPOB terrorists. They are not terrorists. Those who took the decision may have information that I don’t have."

“I live in Onitsha, and I can tell you they are not terrorists. They (IPOB members) are people I pass on the road every time, (and) every day.”

“I meet them and live with them. In fact, I usually see (IPOB) people gathering, and not one day has there been a threat or molestation or anything from them, even when they gather,” Obi said.

However, Reno Omokri has asked Peter Obi to retract his comment following the arrest of some IPOB members by the Nigerian Police Force on May 16, 2023.

The arrest occurred after the killing of the US embassy staff in Anambra.

Reacting to the report, Omokri wrote;

"Now that the Nigerian Police Force has arrested IPOB members for the May 16, 2023 killing of US embassy staff In Anambra, would Peter Obi care to adjust his statement that 'IPOB members are not terrorists. I live with them'?

I hope the @USinNigeria Embassy and the @StateDept in Washington, DC pay close attention to this video."
