Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, responded on August 9, 2025, via his official X account to remarks by Peter Obi, Labour Party leader and former Anambra State governor.
According to Channels TV, Obi, speaking at the Bauchi State Government House, advocated for a single five-year presidential term in Nigeria, arguing it would allow leaders to prioritize governance over reelection efforts.
According to Channels TV, Peter Obi said, "If I have the opportunity, we should stop having a second tenure for presidents. It should be five years. That is what is in South Korea."
Olayinka criticized Obi’s proposal, sarcastically noting that Obi, whom he called “Mr ONE SHOE,” was already extending his earlier single four-year term pledge to five years before even contesting the 2027 election."
In his statement, he said, "Mr One Shoe is already trying to increase his "one term" to 5 years even when he is yet to contest the 2027 Presidential Election.
