Wike reveals what he will do if Tinubu offers him appointment

Former Governor of Rivers State Nyesome Wike has opened up on what he will do if he receives a political appointment from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Despite being a staunch member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike somehow worked for the victory of the All Progressives Party (APC) during the February 25 polls which saw the APC's Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerge victorious.

The PDP Chieftain on Friday, June 2 visited the Presidency for a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and former Delta State Governor, James Ibori.

The said meeting raised eyebrows with many asking if Wike has finally ditched the PDP for APC, but he insisted his visit to Aso Rock was just to wish the newly elected President.

There are also speculations that Wike might get a political appointment from the new administration given his contribution to Tinubu's victory in the polls.

Reacting to the rumours flying around concerning his political appointment, Wike noted that he will consult his wife and friends and also consider his state of preparedness before reaching a final conclusion.

"The man has never told me he wanted to give me an appointment. You can't say you are too big to serve your country, but the man has never told me one day that he wanted to give me an appointment.

"If he asks me, I will ask my wife and friends. I will ask people what they think about it. Then I will also see whether I am prepared," he said.
