Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said the people of the state would not vote for politicians who don't have the best interest of the state.

The PDP stalwart made this on Monday, August 8 after the commissioning of the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines junction) Flyover.

Wike noted that the people of Rivers State will resist politicians who hate the state via their votes in 2023 while stressing that they must benefit from any candidate that will have their votes.

He said, “If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you.

“Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.

“Politics now is no longer just vote for somebody, it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”

Although Wike did not mention any name, he is believed to be referring to Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, with whom he has been at loggerheads for some time now.

The former presidential aspirant has been at loggerheads with the leadership of the opposition party after he was overlooked for the vice presidential slot.
