Wike applauds Tinubu for suspending Emefiele as CBN governor

Immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has hailed President Bola Tinubu for suspending Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

On Friday night, President Tinubu suspended Emefiele and ordered him to immediately hand over to the Apex bank’s Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) Folashodun Shonubi.

Sharing his thoughts on the suspension, Wike described the President’s decision as bold and timely.

It is known that Wike was one of the critics of Emefiele’s policies, especially the Naira redesign.

The former Governor also applauded President Tinubu for approving uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judicial officers in the country.

In a statement signed by his media team, Wike was of the view that Tinubu's action will introduce a new lease of life to the nation’s judiciary.

He added that he and the G5 members are pleased that the President is showing “focused and exemplary leadership that will lead the county to prosperity.”
