Nyesom Wike, governor Rivers state, said he is not ready to leave his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and ran into a "problem."

The governor reiterated his commitment and loyalty to the opposition party amid high-flying rumours and rising speculations linking him to the ruling blocks, All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike also promised to complete all the projects his administration has begun before he leaves power, describing Rivers state as an "asset to PDP."

Speaking during the inauguration of Rumuekini/Aluu Road, traversing Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas on Tuesday, January 12, the governor said he is not ready to burden his successor with uncompleted projects.

In his words: “Before now, All Progressives Congress (APC) said we are doing roads only in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor local governments. Now, they cannot talk again.

“We have told Nigerians that PDP is the only hope of this country. I have told anybody who cares to listen; we are not those who are afraid that people will come after them, so they want to run to another party. I am not running anywhere.

“How can I run from success to the problem. People should ordinarily go from problem to success, not the other way round. Rivers State is an asset to PDP."
