Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, recently clashed with Senator representing FCT, Ireti Kingibe over the certain priorities of the country's capital.

During a meeting, Ireti while commending Wike for his effort and boldness, disagreed with the use of N3 billion for the refurbishment of the Abuja mass transit.

Sharing her thoughts, she noted that his priorities are not people friendly citing the mass transit buses which she said was done before and would get destroyed before the end of his tenure.

"I think that that N3 billion could be better used in some other way than putting them back in reviving those dead buses. We accessed those buses and we were told that just a faction of them can actually be repaired. So, you would need to buy fresh buses which it doesn’t make sense to do.

Construction of the Linaba cultural centre, I understand it’s a laudable project if we had the money, but I think that right now, where we are in this country, in terms of where the people are, they need more intervention," Kingibe said.

Wike in response, disagreed that the transit buses revamp and the cultural center construction are not a prority.

He said; “I think that it is a priority for this country and it is a revenue resource for the country. With all due respect, I do not agree that it is not a priority.

"If we spend N40 billion starting a project then midway we abandon it and go and start a priority that is not correct.

"To reduce the level of suffering, if we bring those buses the people will have access to it. I don’t like to be theoretical; I like to be practical."
