A socio-political analyst, Deji Adeyanju has said that the crisis within the largest opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike will affect the party's chances in 2023.

He made this known in an interview with Daily Post.

Adeyanju said: “Yes, of course, I think so because I think Atiku and his campaign team have moved on from Wike, so no matter the noise he makes, they don’t care anymore.

“Wike is overdoing it and he has made his point; there is no need to go back and forth on the same issues; it looks childish.

“And of course, the grievance with Atiku is going to definitely affect the chances of PDP, because there is no way a divided house will stand.”

The crisis in the PDP seems to have no end in sight as Wike insists on the resignation of National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate and his choice of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate worsened the crisis.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who came second during the primaries, is aggrieved that Atiku ignored him and picked Okowa as his running mate.
