Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has queried Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party for failing to condemn the maltreatment on one Abioye Oladeji by some unknown gunmen un the southeast.

In a video making rounds on Tuesday, August 22, some unknown gunmen apprehended a Yoruba man identified as Abioye Oladeji, for allegedly spying on them, a claim the young man denied.

According to the gunmen, the driver who was spotted with Oladeji was set free because he was Igbo.

One of the captors was heard saying; “Listen to what I'm telling you all now, you people think that we, unknown gunmen are playing. Look at what you have caused your brother.

“This your brother, he has become our own. Unknown gunmen have taken possession of him. You think we are playing. We discussed about something and you sent someone to track us right? He saw where your vehicle was and sent a spy to find out where we are.

“Just forget about this your brother. You will see that we are not playing. Whatever that your driver we held before told you, believe it because it is true. We allowed the driver to go because he is an Igbo man. But this one is Yoruba. He is (President Bola) Tinubu’s people.”

The captors continued to question the victim, “Tinubu is your brother right,” to which the victim who looked fearful, replied, “Tinubu is Yoruba, I am Yoruba. He is my brother.”

However, report indicates that Oladeji has been released after a N3 million ransom was paid.

Speaking after his release, Oladeji narrated his ordeal. “This was not how they treated others. All my back and body ache. My legs are heavy,” Oladeji said in the video of his release as he showed off the bruises he suffered from the gunmen.

Reacting to the viral video, Reno Omokri, raised concerns over the silence of the former Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi.

In a post shared on his social media page, Omokri wote; “Have you seen the video of Abioye Oladeji, who was abducted by unknown gunmen and threatened with death because he is Yoruba? Do you think @obyezeks would have been silent up until now if this occurred in the Southwest and someone was abducted and threatened with death because he was not Yoruba?”

“48 hours later, why hasn't Peter Obi condemned the treatment meted out to Abioye Oladeji by unknown gunmen in the Southeast?” Omokri quizzes.
