Why Nigerian prosperity gospel is demonic system - Mike Arnold

Former Mayor of Blanco, Texas, Mike Arnold, has said the Nigerian prosperity gospel is a demonic system that packages greed and sells it to desperate people.

In a post on X, Arnold warned against seed sowing, describing the act as sowing into serpents and not giving to God.

According to him, purveyors of the prosperity gospel are not interested in preaching about Jesus Christ because they have turned the pulpit into auctioning boxes.

He said, "STOP SOWING INTO SERPENTS. The Nigerian Prosperity Gospel isn’t a movement—it’s a machine. A demonic system that packages greed, slaps a verse on it, and sells it back to desperate people as 'faith.'

"They call it 'sowing a seed.' But the seed is not your money—YOU are the seed. Jesus said it Himself: 'The good seed are the sons of the Kingdom.' (Matthew 13:38)

"So when you 'sow' into these luxury-loving preachers…You’re not giving to God. You’re planting your identity in their soil. And what kind of soil is it? Flashy. Thorny. Shallow. Full of the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches. (Matthew 13:22). The kind that chokes the Word and leaves you fruitless.

"These men don’t preach Christ crucified—they preach wallets glorified. They turn pulpits into auction blocks. They promise blessings in exchange for 'seeds'… but they never show you the Cross."

Explaining clearly, the former mayor said if your pastor can’t preach holiness, repentance, and the blood of Jesus without tithing first—he’s a hireling, not a shepherd.

"You can’t escape Babylon by giving to Babylon. You can’t buy your way into breakthrough. You can’t fund your way into the Kingdom. You can’t sow into wolves and expect a harvest from the Lamb. Repent. Cut ties. Burn the bridges. Clean out your heart AND your CashApp. God is not mocked. You will reap what you sow. And if you keep sowing into deception, you’re going to choke.

"This is not about Nigeria—it’s global. But Nigeria is the epicentre, and the fire of judgment is circling. Either you’ll be wheat… Or you’ll be tares. But you won’t be both. 'Come out from among them and be separate,' says the Lord. (2 Cor. 6:17). The soil is revealing the roots. And the axe is already laid at the tree," arnold said.
