Why INEC’s server suffered glitch during 2023 presidential polls - Peter Obi

Peter Obi Peter Obi

Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has alleged that the malfunction experienced in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) servers during the last presidential election was a deliberate act orchestrated by certain individuals with vested interests.

Speaking during a gathering in Canada, Obi, who contested as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, attributed the glitches in INEC's server to the machinations of individuals seeking to maintain the status quo.

He pointed out that Amazon, a reputable American technology company, confirmed that there were no recorded glitches globally on the day of the presidential election, dispelling the notion of technical failures.

Obi emphasized that the challenges faced during the election were not a result of procedural errors but rather deliberate efforts to undermine the electoral process. He highlighted the importance of perseverance in effecting change, citing historical precedents from around the world.

Addressing supporters in Canada as part of a "thank you" tour, Obi stressed the need for continued efforts to address systemic issues and ensure a fair and transparent electoral system.

While refraining from naming specific issues to be addressed, Obi reassured his audience of ongoing efforts to rectify any deficiencies in the electoral process.

The former governor's assertions shed light on the complexities and challenges inherent in Nigeria's electoral system, underscoring the importance of vigilance and reform to uphold democratic principles.
