IInvestigative journalist David Hundeyin has revealed that the federal government plans to transfer Bristol Tamunobiefiri, also known as PIDOM, to a dark site operated by the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Hundeyin, in a post on X that has since generated widespread reactions, said the move by the federal government follows the publicity that PIDOM's arrest has generated.
"Following the publicity generated by the intervention of his friends, legal team, and family which started on Friday, Nigerian authorities are planning to move @PIDOMNIGERIA from FCID detention to a dark site run by ONSA," Hundeyin wrote.
The arrest of PIDOM was revealed by the Nigeria Police Force, who said he was arrested for allegedly undermining the integrity of government operations.
Tamunobiefiri, a social media influencer on X, operates under the alias of the anonymous whistleblower handle, 99% Oppressed, and tweets using #PIDOMNIGERIA.
The police said PIDOMNigeria was arrested on August 5 in his hotel room in Rivers State.
In a statement on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the police said other allegations against PIDOMNigeria include unlawful possession, leaking of classified documents, and cyber-related offenses.
On Thursday, David Hundeyin reported that PIDOMNigeria had been missing since August 5 after an associate of PIDOM contacted him.
