Which Nigerian President had any vision like Abacha – Buba Galadima

Late General Sani Abacha Late General Sani Abacha

Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Buba Galadima has said that late General Sani Abacha is the best president Nigeria ever had.

Speaking in an interview on Untold Stories with Adesuwa, Galadima noted that Abacha was the only president who held the country because of his vision.

He explained that during Abacha’s tenure, the dollar was sold at N84 and the fuel prices did not change.

According to him, no president can boast of a stable exchange rate in Nigeria. Adding that there was sanity in the country during the era of Sani Abacha.

He said;

“For me Abacha was the best President Nigeria ever had because he held this country. The Federal Secretariat in Abuja who built it? the national assembly who built it? Who completed the villa? Throughout Abacha’s four years plus, the dollar was N84, how much was fuel? It never changed. You can plan for your business.

Who among all these leaders can beat his chest to say they kept the dollar a certain amount of money without changing for six months. The dollar was sold for $15 under Abacha. He was under sanction yet; nobody was taking our oil. You could not afford to steal under Abach. There was sanity in the country.

It is your intention that drives what you do. Abacha had a vision for this country. Integrated this country, formed a constitution where nobody wanted to propagate the constitution, where no section will feel oppressed, suppressed.

This is why Abacha adopted a modified system in which you have a head of government, you have a prime minister such that at every point in time, where a president comes from the north for example, the prime minister comes from the south.

The prime minister manages the government by law. And the president only manages the currency, the defence and the economy. That’s power sharing. That was his vision. Which of the Presidents have any vision?”
