Wherever you see free food, eat it; times are tough – Akpabio advises Nigerians

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio Senate President, Godswill Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has provoked the Nigerian youths with his comments made during a plenary session.

Akpabio, while addressing the hardships faced by citizens in the country, advised Nigerians to not hesitate in taking advantage of free food whenever they come across it.

His remarks elicited a loud laughter from fellow lawmakers.

“Times are difficult and wherever you see free food, please, endeavour to avail yourself.”

Many Nigerians displeased with his comments, described it as a mockery of the citizens. Social media users warned the authorities and lawmakers to refrain from such behaviour, as it could lead to a strong backlash from the youth.

ogidi_lyons: When the people can't have one voice this is exactly what you get...

flozpeters: These guys are making mockery of us..it's well

sulaimonjaiyesimi: They are laughing because citizens are afraid to occupy their chambers. Until these people are chased out of that position including the Aso rock, that's when we will have peace. For now make everybody dey create contents out of this hardship.

__king_zaza___: See d way dem Dey use Nigeria catch cruise

__omoyemi: They are deliberately making Nigeria hard

lucas1665b: Una see as them dey laugh una, they are all united in the Senate despite coming from different tribes but you that hardly eat 3 square meal is busy fighting for them and playing your tribal card, funny enough they don't even care about you now until it's election period then they will return to tell you igbo, hausa, yoruba etc is your problem, make una try get sense even if na the kind small sense wey goat get, God forbid.

lanseriki: Until Nigeria speaks with one voice, nothing will change. Politicians are happy when they see the Igbos attacking the Yorubas and blaming them for all the rots while the Hausa feel unconcerned with hatred for both Igbos and Yorubas. They know that as much as we hate each other, we won't fight them. If Nigerians can just come together to face their common enemy, the politicians, without prejudice to where they come from, they will fear the masses and do the right thing. As it stands, nothing will change anytime soon.

dukepetre: This government is the most insensitive! God! I’m so irritated by them! Making fun of the plight of the masses! People are literally dying and suffering and you there making jokes??? Na God go judge all of una. Continue!

ebos_93: This is not even funny but a total mockery of poor Nigerians.
