Dele Momodu, the Director of Strategic Communication, Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, has slammed the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, for declaring the 2023 presidential results on March 1.

His comment comes after INEC postponed the gubernatorial election which was scheduled to hold on March 11.

Recall that there were demands from opposition parties for the declaration of the presidential results to be delayed so as to enable all the results uploaded to the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System BVAS and sent to the central server of INEC known as iRev.

The INEC chairman refused the demand and announced Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, winner of the election.

On Wednesday, March 8, the court of appeal in Lagos ordered INEC to grant Tinubu and the Labour Party access to the electoral materials.

Also permission to reconfigure the BVAS machines used for the Presidential and National Assembly elections

As a result of this directive, INEC announced the postponement of the gubernatorial elections scheduled for March 11.

According to the electoral commission, it will need time to reconfigure its over 176,000 BVAS machines used at the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Reacting to INEC's announcement, Dele Momodu in an Instagram post questioned Professor Yakubu's decision to halt the governorship election but failed to delay the presidential polls.

His post reads;

"It is just curious how come the same INEC that could postpone the Gubernatorial elections could not wait a few days in order to perfect the Presidential race and make a good name permanently for itself? Where was PROFESSOR MAHMOOD YAKUBU rushing to for God's sake?"
