The Peace Accord organized by the National Peace Committee to promote a conflict-free electioneering process ahead of the 2023 general election was held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), on Thursday, September 29.

The first peace pact which came off today is to ensure all political campaigns and rallies are nonviolent, free of instigation to violence, and devoid of personal attacks, while focusing on subjects that are essential to the advancement of the nation.

The second peace pact will hold shortly before the elections and this is intended to commit candidates to accepting the outcome of votes as long as it is adjudged free, fair and credible.

All the presidential candidates who were expected at the signing of the peace pact were present, except the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu as he was nowhere to be found and this has left many people wondering where he is.

His running mate, Kashim Shettima was however, present at the signing of the Accord.

Some Nigerians and social media users are wondering why Tinubu would miss such an important gathering, hence asking if he is “still sleeping, scared to come out, or escaped abroad for treatment”.

Other presidential candidates who attended the event include; Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party among others.

Below are some social media reactions;
