President Bola Tinubu joined several heads of state to witness the inauguration ceremony of Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in Diamniadio.

44-year-old Bassirou, is reported to be the youngest President in history.

Senegal’s opposition leader succeeds outgoing President Macky Sall to become the country's 5th president after polling 54% of the votes in the March 24 presidential election.

Bassirou rose from being in prison to becoming president in just weeks.

In a video making rounds, Tinubu was seen exchanging pleasantries with the new leader as he posed for photographs while congratulating the newly elected President.

Reacting to the video, photos of Tinubu congratulating the young President, some Nigerians took to social media to slam Tinubu.

Some raised concerns at the age difference of the two African leaders with many calling for a retirement of all old politicians.

@khalidkoff06: Shame no catch you. Your pikin mate. You still hold us till now

@DivineObele: A nation that is looking forward to a better future for its citizens versus a nation that wants to destroy the aspirations of the youths. Nigeria, learn your lesson, small kwanu na!

@mrhumblelion: When illegitimate meets legitimate

xamhry: Tinubu should look at himself and the boy, who make sense pass?

He should also look at the process that brought him into power

Finally, he should see the love and support from the people

@_mansecco: "How are you my son"? "Congratulations"

@dele_sotunde: Daddy and "son" President

@udeochusp: Awwwwwwwnnnnn. So inspiring. Father figure things.

I know say some people f to m a particular political camp go unleash hell here soon.

@ajaGunSEgun_: Senegal's example suggests retiring old politicians like Tinubu, Atiku Obi, etc. and allowing young, intelligent, and vibrant youths aged 40–47 to take over Nigeria's political space; nevertheless, at this juncture, total dissolution will be the best option for Nigeria.
