On-air-personality, Rufai Oseni has reacted to the lavish birthday celebration held for Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

Speaking on the What's Trending segment of the Morning Show on Arise TV, Oseni believes the celebration was insensitive to the plight of Nigerians who currently live in abject poverty.

He further asked where the Senate President got the funds to throw the lavish party.

"Ogy, I am in shock. What kind of country have we become? And you say you are emotional and sensitive. For a 61st birthday which is not a milestone yet. Even if it's a milestone, a country where over 100 million people live in multidimensional poverty. CBN just released a report that the exchange rate is now 952. What it means is that the cost of a car has gone up," Rufai fired.

He continued: "At a time when there is a lot of pain and there are killings all over the place. But at a time when there is a lot of suffering then you are running down the stadium and you have packed people full."

"The Senate President should be please tell Nigerians how much that birthday party cost him," he asked.

The birthday was attended by over 100 serving and former Senators, including the Wife of the President of the Federal Republic, Senator Remind Bola Tinubu, Senator Remind Tinubu, Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin and other principal members of the Senate and House of Representatives, State governors, Senators’ wives among others dignitaries.

Speaking at the event as the special guest of honour, Senator Remind Tinubu described the celebrant, Senator Akpabio as an extraordinary and uncommon man, saying that the event had given her the long-desired opportunity to appreciate his immense contributions to Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State in particular.
