'What an irony of life' - Nigerians react to throwback photo of Ekweremadu with King Charles III

An old photo of Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu with the visiting Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, during a reception for the Prince and HRH Duchess of Cornwall by the British High Commission in Abuja, has trended online and sparked reactions as well.

This is coming a few hours after King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla's, coronation at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 7.

Recall that a court in the UK on Friday, May 6, sentenced Ekweremadu to 10 years in prison.

The court also sentenced Ekweremadu's wife, Beatrice, to four years and six months while the doctor who was their medical 'middleman' Dr Obinna Obeta, had his medical license suspended and was jailed as well.

Reacting to the picture of Ekweremadu and the new king, netizens expressed deep concern over the politician's fate.

The tweet by Ekweremadu on Monday, November 18, 2018, read: "I attended the reception organised by the British High Commission for Their Royal Highnesses, Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in Abuja. With me is HRH, Prince Charles. @PremiumTimesng @nanonlineng @thecableng @NGRSenate @THISDAYLIVE @vanguardngrnews @MobilePunch."
