Nigerians on social media have reacted to the latest call by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, to present himself for arraignment.

Bello has been on the run since the antigraft agency declared him wanted, along with Ali Bello, Dauda Suleiman, and Abdulsalam Hudu, on 19-count charges of money laundering totaling N80,246,470,089.88 (Eight Billion, Two Hundred and Forty-Six Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Thousand, and Eighty-Nine Naira, Eighty-Eight Kobo).

The recent court order prevents Bello from proceeding with the case until he appears for arraignment. Governor Usman Ododo had previously prevented EFCC operatives from arresting Bello at his residence in Abuja.

A three-man panel of the court, including Justice H. A Barka, Justice S. A Bola, and Justice I. K Amadi, instructed Bello to comply with the ruling of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

In a unanimous decision delivered by Justice Amadi, the appellate court agreed with the prosecution's lead counsel, Dr. Kemi Pinheiro SAN, stating that Bello's appeals were without merit.

Bello evaded arrest and missed five scheduled court sessions for his arraignment on April 18, April 23, May 10, June 13, and June 27, by repeatedly filing applications challenging the EFCC's authority and the court's power to arraign him.
