The Nigeran government said it is doing everything possible to ensure that the country gets access to the COVID-19 vaccine when it is finally out.

Boss Mustapha, chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, made this disclosure on Monday, November 23, during a press briefing in Abuja.

Mustapha, who doubles as the secretary to the government of the federation, said the government is working closely with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to that effect.

He, however, advised Nigerians against travelling during the Christmas, saying that COVID-19 infection rate was increasing.

While noting that there is a steady rise recently, Mustapha stressed that restrictions on large gatherings remain in force during the festivities.

The SGF decried that some travellers were involved in presenting fake testing documents, but assured that the PTF will be working closely with relevant agencies of government and necessary authorities to impose sanctions on in-country travellers found guilty.

As of Tuesday, November 24, Nigeria has 66,439 confirmed coronavirus cases with 62,241 people discharged. However, 1,168 deaths have been recorded.
