Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, has asked Naira Marley to not go ahead with the #EndSARS protest saying the government is working on it

Recall Naira Marley had taken to social media to announce he'd be leading a protest for the #EndSARS campaign

The singer in response to the minister's tweet request, asked him for assurance saying he has been told the same thing 4 times

Nigeria's Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, has taken to social media to ask Naira Marley and other youth not to embark on the #EndSARS protest, adding that the government is working towards fixing the problem.

This comes a few hours after the rapper took to his Twitter page to state that he would be leading the protest, announcing that it will be taking place today, October 6, in Lagos.

Responding to Marley's plans, the minister wrote:

"I urge you and other youth not to embark upon any protest. Your grievances are being addressed at the highest level of government. As the Minister in charge of youth I know this is an issue that must be tackled. Government is doing just that. "Marley, however, didn't seem like he was ready to back out of the planned protest. He responded to the minister, asking for assurance.

He stated that news of the government working on tackling is something they have heard on several occasions.

"Ekale Sir. We have heard this before. Four times. Why will this time be different? Do you really care about the youth? Many of us have been killed and they harass us everyday. What is the assurance this time? We need assurance"
