A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has stated that Bokku Mart cannot be brought down due to an offensive advertisement.
MyNigeria reported that Bokku Mart gained popularity after what would have become its downfall was transformed into a means of fame for the supermarket.
A video advert on its social media platform had generated controversy after people of Igbo ethnicity lamented that it contained an ethnic slur against them.
The video featured a social media influencer promoting the supermarket, stating that the products they sell are very affordable and that 'omo Igbo' will not cheat her if she continues shopping at Bokku Mart.
Despite apologies from the influencer and Bokku Mart, some Igbo social media users have been running a campaign to cancel the supermarket.
Unfortunately for them, a push back arrived from Yoruba people, who have chosen to defend the supermarket, because someone from their ethnicity owns it.
They have since been running a social media campaign promoting the supermarket, which has boosted the establishment's social media following and increased brand awareness.
Reacting to the cancel culture against Bokku Mart, Igbokwe, an Igbo man, said, "We cannot bring down Bokku Mart because of the ugly activities of one girl. We are all Children of God."
