Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which kicks off later this month (December 21), Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has tipped Nigeria to win the tournament.

The Super Eagles lost in the final against Ivory Coast in the last edition, as the hosts came from a goal down to turn the game on its head with a 2-1 victory.

Having come within touching distance of clinching the title, Iwobi believes that the three-time African champions can jump the final hurdle in the upcoming AFCON to end Nigeria's 12-year wait for the title.

The Fulham midfielder believes Nigeria possesses the quality to deliver the prestigious trophy.

“We were really close last AFCON, but the only way we can improve on the last AFCON is to win it,” Iwobi said as quoted by Daily Post.

“We have the players to do it, we believe we can, we just have to prove it.”
