We are not here to rubber-stamp any fraudulent results - Dino Melaye to INEC

Dino Melaye, the Spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council has defended his bizarre action at the National Collation Center in Abuja.

Dino, a national collation officer of the Peoples Democratic Party went ballistic as he protested the voting numbers from Ekiti State.

He observed that the numbers called by the state's return electoral officer were different from the collation at the other levels and that of the party.

He and four other parties called for the rejection of the results from Ekiti as the BVAs machine was not used in some polling units in the state.

He said: “The INEC Chairman and Festus Okoye have repeated told us that there would be transmission of results from the polling unit directly to the server and now we have found out that this has not be done because INEC failed in this regard.”

“And when I raised the issues supported by other party agents, the national chairman of INEC evaded that because what section 47 emphasizes is that whereever the card reader or BVAs fails, elections should be cancelled in those areas. Now we have seen from the presentation of results from Ekiti yesterday that some places were cancelled as a result of by-passing BVAs.”

“So the only way to detect that BVAS has been by-passed is to see the uploaded results. And we insisted that the chairman should show us the record of the uploaded results State by state like the way the collated results they are presenting.”

“That is the only way to test the authenticity and the veracity of this results if not we are only here to endorse the fraud that has been done. We are not here to rubber stamp the fraud that has been done. We are here to check them.”

“We are going to do everything humanly possible t ensure that the right thing must be done.”
