'We are monitoring the process' - APC reacts to Betta Edu's suspension, investigation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the party is closely monitoring the corruption scandal leveled against the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betty Edu.

Speaking in an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday, January 9, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka said it is premature to answer if the party is disappointed in her actions.

Responding swiftly to the questions posed by Arise TV co-host Rufai Oseni, he said the APC is monitoring the situation.

Rufai: Is the party disappointed in Betta Edu?

Morka: That is a very premature question, Betta Edu is now under investigation

Rufai: Is the party proud of her?

Morka: The party doesn't have to be proud or disappointed. We are simply going to monitor the process to its conclusion

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, January 8 suspended the embattled Minister following widespread anger over an alleged N585 million scandal.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

“In line with his avowed commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in the management of the commonwealth of Nigerians, President Bola Tinubu suspends the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, from office with immediate effect,” the statement read.

On Sunday, Tinubu directed a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged N585m scandal in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
